Capoeira Batizado
Batizado literally means baptism. It is an event that traditionally takes place once a year. The batizado is a ceremony where beginning students are initiated and welcomed into the Capoeira community. For more advanced students, the batizado is an opportunity to demonstrate new skills they have learned throughout the year. Students who are ready graduate to the next cordao (colored cord).
The batizado is also a time for Capoeira mestres and instructors to come together and share their vast knowledge of Capoeira with the students. Family, friends and the general public are encouraged to come enjoy and participate in the event. |
